1. GGrandma Roberts was almost blind in her later years, but, I remember she was always pleasant to visit with and sometimes would have some marbles to give me. I cannot possibly know where they came from unless they were "leftovers" from Uncle Robert and Uncle Ted's belongings when they moved out.

3. Gertie Lewis said that an Indian woman gave birth to Mary Jane and then gave her to John Maddox to raise.

7. Bobby Maddox reported on 29 Jun 2003 to jhsuggs@hotmail.com that in an audio taped interview with Ida Maddox in the 1980's in Oakman, Alabama, that she said George W. Maddox was buried at the foot of John W. Maddox and the grave was unmarked as were many in those days. Ida was one of the daughters of John W. Maddox from his 2nd marriage to Mary Brom "Brohme" Watson Maddox. She was very coherent in this interview. She was slightly hard of hearing but I felt she knew exactly what questions I asked her to answer. She had been told by her father or mother where her grandfather was buried so that is the closest we have got to any reasonable idea of his burial site.
1. George W. Hopson, enlisted 8 May 1862, age 18, Company G, 41st Alabama Infantry, CSA (FHLF#1636676 #6, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, Confederate Veterans Record, p. 67).
2. He served three years of the war in Company G, 41st Alabama Infantry Regiment, which was heavily recruited in Fayette and Tuscaloosa Counties.

4. He established the Mercantile store, drug store, and the grocery store. At that time they were all housed in the same building with the Post Office. The old building is still standing as of 10 Sep 2005. His land consisting of 80 acres was located in Township 9N - Range 17W - Section 34. Another plot consisting of 70 acres was located in Township 8N - Range 17W - Secion 2. The hand dug well is still on the property that was dug by the Roberts family.

4. Reputedly, Ed Roberts was one of the deputies in the posse that killed notorious outlaw, Bob Dalton, near Ardmore, Oklahoma, in June 1894.
5. There are stories that Ed was quick with a gun in the untamed Indian Territory, and a fight in which some people were killed may have spurred Ed to leave Arkansas ahead of the law. (He is supposed to have killed 2 black boys and a white girl in Arkansas making him a fugative from the law)...He went to Texas and then up to Oklahoma...This is all legend now and we will probably never know the truth of these stories...
