Mabel E., passed away on September 23, 2002 in Shawnee, OK at the age of 91. She was born March 21, 1911 near Prague, OK to Hendrix and Era Hayes.
On June 6, 1937, Mabel married the love of her life Lucian Webb in Pauls Valley, OK. She graduated high school in rural Garvin County and attended East Central Normal School in Ada, OK where she received a Life Teacher's Certificate. She worked a short time as a teacher then spent the remainder of her life as a house wife and mother.
She lived in Oklahoma all of her life and in OKC since 1970. She was a devoted member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in OKC.
Mabel is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, and one sister. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Ron and Dee Webb of Tecumseh, OK; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Lee and Lisa Webb of OKC; grandson Ron Webb, Jr. of Urbania, IL; great granchildren Abbie and Andrew Webb of OKC; sister Jo Zinn of OKC; sister and brother-in-law Pearl and Doyle McCoy of Lindaay, OK; and several nieces, nephews, and friends,
Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Vondel Smith South Coloniel Chapel, Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, OK.

Dr. Doyle Allen MC COY

1. Service bulletin gives date and place of birth as 22 Feb 1917 at Linsay, Oklahoma.

2. Doyle graduated from High School at Bradley, Grady, Oklahoma

3. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Central State Teachers College with a major in biological sciences. He taught four years at Galey grade school, and seven years at Ada High School before joining the staff at East Central.

4. He received a Master of Science Degree was earned at Oklahoma University with a botany major and a minor in zoology. He also earned his doctorate in the same field at OU. He did post-graduate work at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, Purdue University, Lafayette, Ind. and Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, Colorado.

5. Dr. Doyle Allen McCoy wrote five books:
(a) A Study of Flowering Plants
(b) Roadside Flowers of Oklahoma Vol. 1
(c) Roadside Flowers of Oklahoma Vol. 2
(d) Roadside Trees and Shrubs of Oklahoma
(e) Oklahoma Wildflowers

6. Dr. Doyle McCoy, longtime faculty member at East Central State college and one of the most respected biology and botany teachers in the Southwest, left Ada to become Acadamic Dean of Howard Payne College at Brownwood, Texas.

7. He died at 8:35 a.m. December 11, 2002, at his home in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
