2. For their fiftieth wedding anniversary their daughter, Nennie Rose Mathison, prepared the following sketch of their family life:
Adolphia "Dolph" Young was the firstborn of Adolphia and Zilpha (Lewis) Young. His father died when he was foourteen years old. He helped his motehr raise his four sisters and three brothers.
Bertha Pachel Holman ws the firstborn of Neils Peterson and Ardell (Holman) Johnson. Her mother died when she was five years old, leaving five children. She had a stepmother and half sistes and a brother. When she was fifteen years old she came to Kanab to live with her mother's sister, Marinda "Aunt Rindy" Halliday. When Bertha was seventeen and Adolphia was twent-four they were married in the St. George Temple for all eternity.
On May 1, 1905, Dolph and Bertha bought their house and furniture and an acre of ground with water for irrigation for $224.00.
On their 50th wedding anniversary, Bertha and Dolph had thirty-one direct descendants, seven children, twenty-two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
