1. In Memory of Henry and Mary Pittman by Bethel (Pittman) McMinn
The Pittman family moved to the mountains in the late 20's on the Uncle John Stepp place. We. lived there 2 years. There were 7 children in our family: William, Jesse, Ana Lou, Margaret, Doris, Bethel and Bessie.
Sunday School was organized in the 20's and 30's at Locust Grove. I can remember Una Freeman, Aunt Emma, Howard Watkins, Beech Moore and Papa. Papa was elected superintendent and deacon and I think Howard Watkins was deacon too. Beech Moore did the preaching. They kept this going on for a while.
The Pittmans moved down to the Lizzie Allen place for a year. Then out on the Sugar Loaf Rod beside of Justice Packing house.
