Lena or Lila HAYES

1. Lena or Lela Hayes was born to Oma Hayes out-of-wedlock.

2. Richard D. Jones reports that Lena or Lela was given away by Albert Hayes, Oma's father when she was about 12-13 years of age. Lela lived in New Mexico and was later heard from and visited by Jeannie Lamb.

3. This writer speculates that a Hayes relative took Lena to raise, and it was most likely one of the Hayes' that went to Elida, New Mexico in a wagon train in 1909 of which my own mother, Argie Beatrice Hayes, daughter of Wallace & Nettie Hayes was a member of. This would further enforce the report that Lena married a Sanders in New Mexico and had nine children.
