1. NewsOK.com 2002-04-02: Ada - - An argument over drugs led to the shooting death of a 32-year-old Ada woman, officials said. Authorities suspect Deon Phelps, 31 shot Nancy Hooser to death Sunday, said Kym Koch, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman. Phels went to Hooser's home near the Oil Center community to buy methamphetamine, Koch said. Authorities think the argument escalated sharply, leading to the shooting. Phels is suspected of shooting Hooser several times, killing her. Hooser's husband, Anthony "Sean" Hooser, then shot Phelps once in the shoulder, Koch said. The wound was not fatal. Phelps is being treated at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada. She underwent surgery Monday. Anthony Hooser has not been arrested, Koch said. She said Pontotoc County prosecutors are waiting for Phelps to recover from surgery before filing a murder charge against her.

Services for Nancy Ann Hooser, 32, Oil Center, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Hill Baptist Church, Dr. Michael Frederick and the Rev. James Stuart officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hooser died March 31, 2002 at her home. She was born Feb. 13, 1970 at Ada to Ron and Ima Jean Hood Newby.
She attended Vanoss School. She was a beauty operator and a homemaker. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
She married Shawn Hooser Nov. 24, 1990.
Survivors include her husband, Shawn Hooser, of the home; two daughters,Vanity Shae Hooser and Brittany Nicole Hooser, both of the home; her father and stepmother, Ron and Rozina Newby, Ada; a brother, Nikolas Newby; her grandmother Hazel Newby Mercer, Ada.
Bearers are Donald Lee, Jerry McDaniel, Jim Ward, Larry Newby, Shane Newby and Scott Furimsky.
Criswell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
