Bryson Brice KUYKENDALL

1. During the Civil War, Brice entered the CSA in October 1862 at Cherokee, Alabama in Company "L" of Roddey's 4th Alabama Cavalry Regiment and continued until April 1865 when he was paroled at Pond Springs, Alabama.

2. He participated in over 100 battles and skirmishes and may have suffered a hip injur from a fall from his horse during this time.

3. Records indicate that he was forced, as many were after coming home from the war, to accept bankruptcy. They also show that he lost the Brice Kuykendall home plat containing 292 acres, all in Frnklin County, Alabama.

4. In 1883 Brice moved his family to Arkansas, first to Washing County, then to Crawford County. They were here for a few years until after Oklahoma statehood in 1907. About this time he moved to Adair in Mayes County, Oklahhoma where he lived for a number of years. Martha died October 3, 1899 and Brice died in Collinsville, Oklahoma September 9, 1916. They are buried at the Tahlequah Cemetery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Thomas "Tom" James KUYKENDALL "Sr"

1. James D. Kuykendall reports that Thomas, Sr. must be considered one of the true tragedies of the Civil War, as after his father lost his property in Franklin County, Alabama, he did not find roots until well into the twentieth century. He never owned an acre of land and was a tenant farmer all his years. He was a bitter and disheartened man throughout most of his life. After entering Oklahoma ca 1907, he farmed several of the States Eastern counties before settling in th Northern part of McIntosh County, Oklahoma along the North Canadian River in about 1916. His greatest success came from the tremendous cotton yields durng WW I that continued until the great depression of the 1930's. In about 1922 he settled his family on fertile acreage in the Ryle Valley in McIntosh County just South of Henryetta, Okmulgee, Oklahoma. During his first marriage he had one daughter and during his second marriage seven children who lived until adulthood. Thomas and Erma are buried at the Westlawn Cemetery at Henryetta, Oklmulgee, Oklahoma. Thomas Sr., died 1/28/1942 and Erma died 5/17/1956.

1. Erma was from Scottish Ancestry, was schooled in Iow and St. Louis, Missouri....

2. She had a very stern, educated mother and a equally educated father, John McDonald Pollock, a well known preacher of his day.


James Douglas KUYKENDALL

Married Judith Anne Evans Duncan 9/26/1986 at the city of Dallas, Dallas, Texas. James had one daughter, Scarlett Anita, from his first marriage and Judy had one son, William Bradley, born during her first marriage. Born in Henryetta, Okmulgee Co., Oklahoma. His parents lived on a farm located just south of the county line in McIntosh Co. Oklahoma. A 1948 graduate of Dewar Hight School in Dewar, Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Was a student at Conners A&M Jr. College in Warner, McIntosh Co. Oklahoma prior to entering the US Air Force in September 19, 1950. Was Honorably discharged on September 18, 1954 at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco, McLennan, Texas.

Enjoyed a fulfilling career in sales beginning in 1954 and lasting until retirement in 1992. For over thirty years was self-employed as a Manufactures Representative in Ladies Apparel Industry. Was a charter member of the Chapel Hill Methodist Church of Farmers Branch, Dallas, Texas. Politically conservative. Owned property in Dallas County since 1959 and lived there since 1955 with the exception of short periods of residence in Richmond, Virginia and Los Angeles, California.

1. Jannetje Claes, widow of Urbanus Lueerson was the daughter of Beatrix Hermans Claes and lived on Boomstraat [Boom Street] very near the Noorderkerk in the Jordaan District.

Carsten "Christian Luyersen" Luursen van KUYKENDALL

1. In about 1663 a Christian Luyersen arrived in the New Netherland from the Bishopric of Bremen located in today's German.

2. Information compiled from Baptisms at the Dutch Reformed Church of New Amsterdam [1639-1730] by Theodore Brassard.

3. Christian probably lived into the eighteenth century although the date of his death has not been determined. His sons may have adopted surnames other than Luyersen but documentation of this has not been found. It is believed that his first wife Anna Vos van Amsterdam died at childbirth in 1668. He purchased several acrews of property located at Broadway and present day Fuller and Fair Strets in NA (NY) in 1675. "New Amsterdam and its People" by J. H. Innes.
