Joseph H. KUYKENDALL "Sr"

1. Joseph was the signer of the Tyron Resolves August 14, 1775 as a resident of the old Tryon County, now dissovled into two counties....Rutherford and Lincoln.

2. 1810 Quachita Parish, Territory of Orleans.

3. Joseph died at his residence in Pulaski County, in his 76th year; veteran of the Revolutionary War; formerly of Christian County, Kentucky, where he was Justice of the Peace & Judge of the Court of Commmon Pleas; served in the Kentucky Legislature.

4. Joseph left a Will....Pulaksi County Wills, 1820-1841 Page 24. It was porbated 23 Feb 1828.

5. His Will provided for the emancipation of his 4 slaves. (Arkansas Gazette - 21 May 1828)

6. It is thought by some that Joseph may have been married three times.

1. Andrew was a lawyer in Vienna, Johnson County, Illinois.


Joseph Benton KUYKENDALL

1. Joseph Benton Kuykendall enlisted in Company "D" 31st Illinois Volunteers in August 1861. He went South with the Regiment and joined the Army of Tennessee. He was engaged in the battles at Belmont, Jackson and the siege and capture of Vicksburg. In 1864, he joined Sherman's command at Kenesaw Mountain.

2. Joseph Benton was honorably discharged August 1864 at the expiration of his term of service.
