1. The story is that Bertha was "disowned" after marrying Charlie.
2. It is lear from information or lack of that there was very little contact with the Adkins side of the family after the marriage.
3. Charlie & Bertha had several children....her first three pregnancies were twins.
4. Bertha was hospitalized for a long number of years shortly after the youngest child "Goldie" was born.
Charlie left the state and moved to California.5. The four youngest children were raised by their oldest sister, Helen and their Uncle Dow.
