Emma Elizabeth MUNTZ

1. Emma & Mr. Clark had some children....not sure how many.


James Newton MC MINN

1. James Newton McMinn was in the 25th Infantry Regiment of the Civil War for 1-year. [Entered service 15 Jul 1862 and was dismissed 16 Jul 1863 at Drewry's Bluff, Virginia] He signed his name James N. McMinn.

2. He was a County Surveyor.

3. The children of James & Susan were born on the old Fruitland Road in Middle Clear Creek Valley. (Around Where Walt Glaspy lived) They attented the Old Fruitland School and Church.

Susan Malinda MAXWELL

1. Susan is buried in McMinn Plot, Ebenezer Church Cemetery, Hendersonville, North Carolina.

2. Susan came from a family who had owned a big plantation in Virginia, and was accustomed to gracious living. None of the children learned specific trades until after marrying.

3. It was oral tradition that Malinda and James lived in a log house until a fine two-story clap board home was built on the Old Fruitland Road around where Walt Glaspy lived.

4. Her homeplace was still standing on Chestnut Gap Road, Henderson County, North Carolina until the 1940's and a painting was made before it was torn down.

5. Malinda gave some land for the Black cemetery on her place. the slave quarters were a short distance away on Sugar Street (today) as oral tradition has it.

6. She lived 61 years, 5 months, & 23 days.

7. Malinda Maxwell's ancestors were from Scotland. Information from the Scottish Society on Clan Maxwell (accent on last syllable): Sir John Maxwell, Chamberlain, of Scotland, died with issue in 1241 and was succeeded by his brother, Sir Aymer Maxwell. Malinda's line is from Aymer Maxwell's son, Sir John Maxwell, 6th Lord of Norton. This John Maxwell's elder son was of Barta of Polli, whose direct male line ended in 1865 on the death of Sir John Maxwell, 8th Baron. There is a Maxwell castle called "Caertaverock Castle", a 17th century home. The picture sent from Scotland shows the east side. Ref. Forrest Lyda, descendant of Zilpha Maxwell.

1. Adeline is buried beside her Uncle Andrew Jesse McMinn, Jr.


Andrew MAXWELL "Jr"

1. Andrew & Elizabeth were the first couple married at Bill's Creek Church.

2. They moved to Buncombe County which became Henderson County and lived on Chestnut Gap Road.

3. They are buried at King's Grove Church, Henderson, North Carolina.
