After his first wife (unknown) died, he married Elizabeth Pernetti Chaffin [It is probable that some of the children listed are by the unknown first wife] List from Bedford, Tennessee, records furnished by Janet Chadwick. [It seems to this writer that Elizabeth Pernetti Chaffin was the only wife of Robert] and she was left a widow in 1847][He must have died in the war because that was the year he left for war] See the 1850 St. Clair County, Missouri 79 th Dist. Census, page 132, household 260.
3. (Robert William McMinn) (William Robert McMinn) (Robert Edward McMinn, Sr.) moved from North Carolina to Tennessee with his father. Need correct name!!!!! [See No. 10 below]
4. They sold their land and moved to Polk County, Missouri in 1838.
5. He was in the War with Mexico, from Independence, Missouri. He joined Captain B. M.Smithson's Third Regiment of the Missouri Mounted Volunteers and was pressed into action immediately. Word was received by his family that he "died on duty" August 15, 1847, at Middle Springs, Sante Fe Trail, Glorietta Mountains, New Mexico. 1. Elizabeth was a widow [relict] of Robert McMinn in 1850 St. Clair County, Missouri, Census, 79th Dist. page 132, household 260.
2. The 1880 Census lists birth Elizabeth Pernetta Chaffin as being in VA. and another source listed Buncombe County, NC
1. Moved to St. Clair County, Missouri in 1833.
2. Ruth was engaged to marry Paul Hanney, but she took severe cold and died; He was grief stricken and died soon thereafter.
