Circuit court record, Hawkins Co., Tenn 1833
3 Sep 1833, Robert McMinn appears and states that he is a resident of Hawkins Co., IN, will be 70 yers old on Jan 12 next. Says he was born in Chester Co., PA 12 Jan 1764 and that his father kept a record of the ages of his children in a Bible, now in the possession of Robert's sister in VA. His father moved from Chester Co., PA to Frederick Co., MD when applicant ws a few years old, and that he, applicant, lived there when he entered service of the U. S. , that he was drafted in 1779, when he was not quite 16 years old. He was stationed in Fredericktown by Col. Price where for 6 months he was a fatugear, makeing barrels to hold the Continental beef; at the end of the six monts, he returned home.
In September of 1781 he was again drafted into service under Capt.Cobble for the purpose of marching against Lord Cornwallis who was then at Little York. While forming up as a regiment under Major Millen, they received word of the capture of Cornwallis. The men captured were trought to Fredricktown as prisoners and were guarded by Major Millen's men, including applicant and marched to Little York, Pa. Applicant remained in this place and was there discharged by Capt. Cobble and applicat then returned home. Applicant no longer has his discharge papers.
Witness to his statemetn were John Coritz and William Smith.

Son: Joseph: ch of Joseph: John, Mary, Robert, Sarah, Nancy, Amanda and Joseph - remaining 230 A of land in Hawkins County.The property in the town of Kingsport purchased from E. Tennesson is willed to sons Thoms and James McMinn; the property consisted of 3 lots of 1/4 acre each, each with buildings, and located on the river front. He instructs his executor, John Lynn, to sell the remainder of his property, houses and lots, in Kingsport, and tells him how to disburse the money raised from the sale.

He and his married son John, were listed in the 1840 Bradley County Census. In the 1850 Bradley County Census, John was listed as 85, his second wife had died, but 4 grown kids were still at home...the oldest being William, 34.
